CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Tajuan Rahmeen Allen was sentenced in Charlottesville Circuit Court for the second-degree murder of Dreshawn McDonald, which occurred on November 5, 2020, on South 1st Street in Charlottesville.

Judge Claude V. Worrell handed down a 40-year sentence, suspending 20 years, leaving Allen with 20 years to serve in prison. Following his release, Allen will be subject to five years of intensive supervised probation and 40 years of good behavior.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania noted the emotional impact on McDonald’s family, saying, “Dreshawn’s father testified at the sentencing that he misses his son every day, and another family member said things will never be the same. This incident is yet another grim and sad reminder of the far-reaching impacts of gun violence.”
