Albemarle County, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): Late on Friday evening, two Virginia State troopers, alongside Albemarle County Police, were involved in a high-speed chase on I-64 eastbound.  

The suspect pursued fled police onto I-81 northbound from Augusta County for a criminal violation after a stop was initiated around 11:00 PM.  The pursuit continued onto I-64 eastbound, where, around mile-marker 120, spike strips were deployed to stop the suspect.

The attempt succeeded, however, a pursuing state police vehicle also crashed when striking the spikes.  The two troopers in the vehicle were admitted to area hospitals and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

 The suspect was apprehended after attempting to escape the scene thanks to aviation and canine units.   The suspect is in custody with charges pending.
