VA BEACH, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – 1:43PM UPDATE:  Virginia Beach Police says the 1-year old critically injured in a crash in Maryland during a pursuit following Thursday morning Amber Alert has died. Virginia State Police began a pursuit this morning of a black Honda SUV in which 36-year old Dana Plummer had reportedly abducted 5-year old Zayir Plummer, 7-year old Zayin Plummer, and 1-year old Za’riyah Plummer. He allegedly abducted the children after going to the house of his estranged wife near Virginia Weslyan University in Virginia Beach and reportedly stabbed her and a child who was also in the house. After a citizen under the Amber Alert reported a vehicle in northern Virginia, a state trooper tried to initiate a traffic stop on I-95 in Fairfax County, fled over the state line, and lost control and crashed on 495 and Branch Avenue about 4 miles into Maryland. Dana Plummer was then apprehended, and the three juveniles transported… with the 1-year old flown by helicopter to a DC hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The other two children were seriously injured… and the stabbing victims back in Virginia Beach were in stable condition. This case remains under investigation. 11:04AM UPDATE: A Virginia State Police Amber Alert is over with a traffic crash during a pursuit in Maryland that has injured the three children.
One of them has been airlifted to a DC hospital. WAVY-TV10 in Portsmouth reports one of the children is in critical condition, and two serious. The crash by Virginia State Police ended in Maryland about 4 miles past the state line with the crash at I-495 and Branch Avenue.

WAVY spoke with neighbors who say 36-year old Dana Plummer and his wife had been separated, and Beach Police got the initial call to Jay Are Court near Virginia Weslyan University shortly before 9 Wednesday night for a stabbing. They arrived and found a woman and child stabbed; and 5-year old Zayir Plummer, 7-year old Zayin Plummer, and 16-month Za’riyah Plummer were missing. Neighbors told the TV station the two have an older daughter, but it’s not clear if she was the child stabbed.

Beach Police issued a malicious wounding warrant for Plummer before putting out the Amber Alert around 2am.

State Police at the request of the Virginia Beach Police Department have activated an AMBER Alert for three siblings – two boys and one girl.
The Virginia Beach Police are looking for 5-year old Zayir Plummer, 7-year old Zayin Plummer, and Za’riyah Plummer, 16 months. The children, last seen before 9pm Wednesday night, are believed to have been abducted by Dana Demetrius Plummer, 36, and may be traveling in a black 2024 Honda Passport SUV with temporary Virginia tags: 37555OR.
The children all have brown eyes and brown hair.

  • Zayir is approximately 4 feet in height and weighs 100 lbs. He was last seen wearing gray pants and a black jacket.
  • Zayin is approximately 4 feet in height and weighs 100 lbs. He was last seen wearing rust-colored pants and a light blue shirt.
  • Za’riyah is approximately 24 inches long and weighs 40 lbs. She was last seen wearing pink tights and a Trolls dress.

Dana Plummer is a Black male with brown eyes and brown hair.
He is 5’9 in height and weighs 170 lbs.
No clothing description available.
The children are believed to be in extreme danger and were last seen at Jay Are Court in Virginia Beach.
There is no known direction of travel.
