CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A man has been arrested and charged after a lockdown on Wednesday morning at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Albemarle Police responded at 10:54 a.m. following reports of a suspicious person in the building.

According to sources, an individual impersonating a doctor entered a meeting, placed a bag on the table with a threat, and then fled the scene.

Albemarle County Police released a statement Wednesday afternoon to share that they apprehended the suspect on the hospital grounds.

They identified the man and his charges Wednesday evening.  The suspect is Daniel W. Sisk, 49, of Barboursville, and according to police he is facing charges including possession of a weapon of terrorism or hoax device, disorderly conduct, assault, and impersonating public safety personnel.

Sisk is currently held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

The incident left many staff and patients shaken. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have reassured the public that there is no continuing threat.
