CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) –Though the 2024 season ended in heartbreak, fans of UVA Cavaliers Baseball do have something to cheer about. All-ACC catcher Jacob Ferrance announced on social media that he would be using his last year of NCAA eligibility due to the COVID 19 Pandemic to play out the last of his college career with UVA. In his first year playing at Disharoon Park, Ferrence earned 2nd-team All-ACC honors, played both catcher and designated hitter, and notched 70 hits, 17 of which were homeruns, for a batting average of .350. Behind the plate he also fielded his position at an elite level, with a .994 fielding percentage. He’s also an NCAA Division III National Champion with Salisbury back in 2021. Ferrence, in an instagram post announcing his decision, made his reasoning clear “…I am returning to the University of Virginia next year in pursuit of a National Championship.”
