The Democratic National Committee has recommended Virginia hold an early primary before Super Tuesday for the 2028 presidential election.

The author and journalist turned political candidate is vying with Tom Perriello and Suzanne Krzyzanowski for the Democratic nomination in the 5th District.

About 30 people demonstrated in front of the Charlottesville post office on the city’s Downtown Mall on Tuesday morning, listening to speakers and chanting their opposition to federal policies they believe will damage the USPS.

The referendum will now have to be approved by voters in November’s General Election.

The board passed a proposal to assist county employees with housing costs, and voted to add a sales tax referendum to the Nov. 3 ballot.

The 5th District Congressman was also one of a number of legislators to invest in Elon Musk’s SpaceX following the company’s IPO earlier this month.

In a letter to the Governor and Attorney General, McGuire expressed concern of how long it took the school division to notify parents of the investigation into former staffer Michael Swiney, who has since been charged with sex crimes against children.
