Despite a lopsided loss last November, the former Republican nominee for Governor is traveling around Virginia urging voters to reject two of the proposed Constitutional amendments on the ballot.

The Governor touted the work she said Perriello would do in Congress, including his focus on affordability, healthcare and protecting Virginia farmers.

Supervisors will also consider a steep slope rezoning designed to make Rivanna Futures more attractive to industrial development.

The Lieutenant Governor made the stop as part of her Energy Costs Listening Tour, where she heard fears and at time even anger over the proposed merger.

Rep. John McGuire declined to answer when asked if he supported the President’s plan to give $5,000 stimulus checks to every American if Republicans win the midterm elections.

To get on the ballot, independent candidates needed 1,000 qualified signatures from registered Virginia voters.

But the Republican Congressman, in a letter to the city manager, did not address what to do about the Free Bridge homeless encampment.

Tom Perriello, the Democratic nominee in the 5th District, said he opposes the deal, while Republican incumbent Rep. John McGuire said he’s monitoring the situation.

A spokesperson for Democratic candidate Tom Perriello said he has accepted every debate invite his team has received, but it’s unclear if Republican incumbent John McGuire has accepted any.

As cyclists continue to traverse risky terrain, some, including Charlottesville Vice Mayor Natalie Oschrin, are calling for safer conditions for bikers.
