With all six precincts in the district reporting, Missel has won 59.1% of the Election Day vote, to Smith’s 40.2% , according to the Virginia Department of Elections website. Early voting, mail-in and provisional ballots have not yet been counted, according to the DOE. 

Former congresswoman Abigail Spanberger defeated Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, who was outraised by the Democrat and failed to earn the endorsement of President Donald Trump.

Virginia is in the national spotlight this Election Day, one of just two states holding an election for governor in 2025.
