In an announcement from Richmond’s mayor that’s been anticipated for months: Levar Stoney in a Monday morning release and video announced he’s running for the Democrats’ nomination for Governor.

7th District Democratic Representative Abigail Spanberger has quickly picked up the endorsement of former Governor Ralph Northam before anyone else gets in the Democrats’ nomination race. 

Former Delegate and newly-elected state Senator John McGuire announces he’s challenging Republican 5th District Congressman Bob Good for the 2025 nomination.

The Congresswoman’s announcement came earlier than expected.

An analysis website run by a Virginia Tech poli-sci student has successfully predicted the winners of all 40 Virginia state Senate races… and will learn sometime Monday if they’re 100-for-100 in the House of Delegates. 

Democrats now control both the Senate and the House.

 Virginia Democrats who campaigned on protecting abortion rights have swept this year’s legislative elections, retaking full control of the General Assembly after two years of divided power.

 Turnout in Charlottesville was even lighter than previous similar elections in 2017 and 2021… mainly because there was only one contested race.
