Charleston, SC (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): Virginia Wrestling had a thrilling backdrop for a dual meet against the Bulldogs of The Citadel on Friday evening. On the deck of the legendary aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, the Hoos battled a squad with a record of 4-4 against them over the course of their history wrestling one another. Keyveon Roller at 125, Gable Porter at 133 and Kyren Butler at 141 all earned bout victories to heave the Hoos out to a 9-0 lead to start the dual. Michael Gioffre, Nick Hamilton, and Rocco Contino at 157, 165, and 174 compounded the score after a Bulldog victory at 149. The Citadel’s heavys fought well in 184 and 197 to bring the Charleston squad within striking distance, but it was not to be on Friday night as Brennan Morgan pinned Adam Ortega to seal a quick victory for the Hoos in what was the final match of the night due to slick conditions on the mats on shipboard thanks to the weather. The Hoos now lead the series history against the Bulldogs at 5-4. UVA will host #10 Michigan at home in two weeks’ time, on Sunday November 24th at 7:00 PM in Memorial Gymnasium.
