CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Fire Rescue crews responded to a brush fire on Barracks Road that a witness told Cville Right Now appeared to engulf the utility truck of an electrical crew working in the area.

ACFR responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 2800 block of Barracks Rd. at approximately 1:44 p.m., according to spokesperson Reagan Samuels. Crews determined the incident to be an accidental brush fire caused by nearby utility work.

The fire was contained by 3 p.m. No injuries were reported but a utility truck was completely demolished by the blaze.

Dominion Energy had crews on site and they were seen checking on the power lines overhead.

“Residents may continue to see and smell smoke in the area as crews remain on scene,” Samuels told Cville Right Now in an email. “Both lanes of Barracks Road at Montvue Drive will be closed for an extended period while ACFR crews address the fire.
