CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for multiple counties in Central Virginia, warning of mixed precipitation, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Culpeper, Orange, and Nelson Counties 9pm Wed to 10am Thu

Fluvanna and Louisa Counties 7pm Wed to 7am Thu

Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, Staunton, Augusta, Rockingham Counties 7pm Wed to noon Thu.

The advisory says up to 1-inch of sleet, and up to a-tenth-of-an-inch ice accumulation could happen. Accuweather’s Jeff Nordeen expects sleet to start Wednesday afternoon from 4-to-6pm and continue into later evening. But then he expects changeover to rain at night into the morning. The sleet could be slippery in the PM drive, but he expects just a wet AM drive at this time.
