Wilbert Shifflett, 88, of Charlottesville, Va. died on October 12, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living.
Wilbert was a barber in Charlottesville for 50 years and worked at the Charlottesville Barber and Styling Shop with Ed Shifflett.
Wilbert had many hobbies throughout his life and some of his favorites were vegetable gardening, fishing, hunting, bee keeping, and traveling the US by bus with his wife and friends. He traveled to Yosemite National Park on several occasions, although he did not like to fly to visit his son Wallace and his family. He loved bluegrass music and over the years he took hundreds of pictures of his family, travels, carpentry projects he was working on around the home, and family events.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents Jerry W. and Mary F. (Frankie) Shifflett; his brother Clarence Shifflett; his sisters Mary Snow (James Snow), Madeline Morris (Weldman Morris), and Rachel Snow (Donald Snow); his brother-in-law Haywood Lawson; and his nephew Gregory Shifflett.
Wilbert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley P. Shifflett; his sons Nathan W. Shifflett and Wallace D. (Beth Vaz) Shifflett; his grandsons Aaron Shifflett and Devon Shifflett; his sisters Zelia Lawson, Dottie (AL) Witt, and Bertha (Gene) Adams; his brother-in-law Charles (Dorothy) Pace; his sister-in-law Ellen Pace; and a host of nieces and nephews.
You are greatly missed and loved by all. We are so grateful for your love of your wife, your family, and your friends. You never met a stranger no matter where your travels took you.
