CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Luke Combs is coming to town Saturday, and thousands of his fans are expected to join him.

The highly-anticipated show is expected to draw a large crowd to Scott Stadium for Combs’s “My Kind of Saturday Night” tour.

“Our goal is for every guest to have a great time while staying safe,” UVA police chief Tim Longo said in a statement. “We’re applying the same proven safety strategies used during major events like UVA football games, and we ask everyone to do their part by planning ahead, following guidelines, and looking out for one another.”

When the concert was announced in October, UVA officials hoped to draw over 60,000 fans. An official number of tickets sold was not available Friday.

The opening acts include Dierks Bentley, Ty Myers, Jake Worthington and Thelma & James. Parking lots open at 8 a.m., stadium doors open at 5 p.m. and show starts at 5:20 p.m. Combs isn’t expected to take the stage until close to 9 p.m.

UVA has announced a series of enhanced safety measures for the event, the first concert at Scott Stadium – the Cavaliers’ home football stadium – since 2017’s “A Concert for Charlottesville,” which featured Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande and others.

Alcohol consumption is limited to inside the stadium and in parking lots immediately adjacent to it.

Gas grills are allowed for tailgating, but charcoal grills and fire pits are prohibited.

UVA has a clear bag policy at Scott Stadium. Attendees are allowed to bring in one clear, plastic bag, no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a one-gallon, resealable plastic storage bag.

Small clutch-style wallets, 4 ½ inches by 6 ½ inches or smaller are allowed and don’t have to be clear.

“Preparedness is key for events of this size,” John DeSilva, UVA’s Director of Emergency Management. “We encourage attendees to stay informed, consider downloading the UVA Ready app, and be aware of their surroundings throughout the event.”

The event is also expected to have significant traffic impacts for the area on Saturday. McCormick Road will be closed and the area surrounding the stadium could see increased traffic, especially before and after the show.

This will be just the fifth concert ever at Scott, but UVA officials told Cville Right Now they are open to hosting more events in the future as they continue searching for additional revenue streams in the NIL era of college athletics.

Tickets are still available, ranging in price from $91.85 for upper deck seats to $223.10 for standing tickets in the pit area and $328.05 for lower section seats.
