CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia High School League has named Western Albemarle and Staunton high schools in our area “Stay in the Game Award” recipients for the 2024-25 academic year for not having a player ejection during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Chilhowie, Eastern Montgomery, Kellam, Goochland, Tallwood, and York high schools have received the top award — the Claudia Dodson VHSL Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity Award. These awards recognize schools that have established policies and procedures making sportsmanship a priority and expectation with the school and school community.
VHSL assistant director Chris Robinson calls the Dodson Award their most prestigious award as it’s the only award on which the entire school is graded.
