CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Whether you’re looking to take in cinematic short films, indie-folk brilliance, or a string-backed Coldplay tribute, there’s plenty to explore across the region. Each week, Anand Harsh of 106.1 The Corner will direct your attention to the music and arts events happening in Charlottesville and surrounding areas that you absolutely can’t miss. These are, at the very minimum, shows you should hit if you’re in the neighborhood—all the way up to cancel-your-plans, call the sitter, and buy your tickets right now.

CALL THE SITTER
- Oct 30: Indigo De Souza @ Jefferson Theater
Not only is Indigo De Souza an incredible singer-songwriter out of Asheville, a burgeoning scene that is blowing up with a number of acts right now, but she’s donating $1 from each ticket sale to the Trevor Project on this tour, which is super cool and is a great cause.

- Nov 1: Purity Ring @ Jefferson Theater
This electronic pop duo is beyond legendary. They’ve been making iconic music for decades, and now they’re coming back to Charlottesville. They are requesting that all attendees wear masks and will provide them for those who don’t already have their own.
CHECK IT OUT
- Oct 28: High Fade @ The Southern Cafe & Music Hall
This funk and disco trio has made big allies in the music industry like Tenacious D and Umphrey’s McGee, and their rip-roaring live show is just what you need to heat up these cold fall nights. - Oct 28: Vikingur Olaffson @ Paramount Theatre
This Icelandic pianist is a legend, and this show will make you feel very smart and cultured. If you’re into that kind of thing. - Oct 28: Michael Che @ Paramount Theatre
Regardless how you feel about the current cast of SNL (I happen to think it’s full of promising young comedic talents), there is no denying that Michael Che has cemented himself as one of the most iconic Weekend Update hosts, of all time. He doesn’t have to do any cold reading when he visits Charlottesville this week, either.
DROP IN
- Nov 1: Day of the Dead All Stars @ The Southern Café & Music Hall
Spend your night after Halloween with some solid Grateful Dead tribute acts. It’s only right.
