WAYNESBORO, VA (CvilleRightNow) – The Waynesboro Lawn & Garden Center on West Main is among now 13 retail nurseries participating in the Virginia Department of Forestry’s “Throwing Shade VA Program”. The forestry department’s Urban and Community Forestry Coordinator Delaney Long says this expands a successful pilot program they did last spring. From now through May 1, retail customers can receive $25 discounts on select native trees and shrubs (valued at $50 or more) from participating nurseries

Long says this is a win-win for Virginia gardeners. Native species do very well in Virginia’s climate, of course, which means more growing success. And they are beneficial for Virginia’s native wildlife and pollinators.
