WASHINGTON, DC (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia’s senior U.S. Sen. Mark Warner just spent two days in Southwest Virginia amid recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene’s destruction. As part of this visit, he heard from affected members of the community, met with first responders, and got a firsthand look at the damage.
In a release, Warner says, “In my visits with 10 communities across Southwest Virginia, I saw profound destruction from Helene, but I also saw an incredible outpouring of love and support between neighbors. Southwest Virginians show up for one another, and as we move from the immediate aftermath to a longer-term recovery, it’s clear that Congress must show up for these communities by authorizing more federal aid.”
In his trip, Warner visited Damascus, Marion, Ivanhoe, Fries, Grayson County, Galax, Hiwassee, Giles County, Bluefield, and Drill.
