Over the weekend, Women’s Soccer secured their second win of the season with a strong 2-0 victory at Klöckner Stadium. The win was fueled by a goal from Meredith McDermott in the 8th minute and an own goal by the Wildcats just before halftime.
Women’s Soccer has two matches this week, one at home and one away. On Thursday, they head to Penn State to face the Nittany Lions at 5:30 p.m., with the match broadcast on B1G+. On Sunday, the Hoos will host Utah Valley, with kickoff at 12 p.m. on ACCNX. Penn State is coming off a 4-0 win against #8 Texas Tech, while Utah Valley, also 2-0, recently defeated Detroit Mercy 5-2.
Men’s Soccer kicks off their season this Thursday against Rider University at Klöckner Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on ACCNX. The Hoos will then stay home for a Sunday night match against Colgate, also at 7 p.m. on ACCNX, following the women’s match against Utah Valley. The UVA men’s soccer team enters the season ranked #13 nationally, alongside ACC rivals Wake Forest, Duke, and Clemson. Clemson remains the favorite to win the ACC.
UVA Field Hockey and Volleyball will both be in exhibition action this weekend against local opponents. Field Hockey faces Richmond at 1 p.m. in a scrimmage, and Volleyball takes on James Madison for a 6 p.m. friendly in Memorial Gymnasium. Head out and support your Hoos!
