CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Powered by a season-high 28 points from Kymora Johnson, the Virginia women’s basketball team earned a 67-60 victory over Clemson on Thursday night at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Cavaliers (10-6, 2-2 ACC) secured their second straight conference win and their first true road victory of the season, while the Tigers (10-6, 3-2 ACC) saw their four-game series win streak come to an end.
Johnson added six assists and two steals to her standout performance, marking her eighth 20-point game of the season. Latasha Lattimore recorded her sixth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Olivia McGhee contributed 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Paris Clark rounded out the Cavaliers’ double-figure scorers with 11 points and a team-high four steals.

Virginia turned the tide in the second quarter, outscoring Clemson 20-10 to take an eight-point halftime lead. Johnson fueled the Cavaliers with 16 first-half points, including two three-pointers. The Tigers cut the lead to five by the end of the third quarter, but Virginia’s defense held strong in the final period. Johnson sealed the game with nine points in the fourth, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

“We’ve been building toward this kind of performance on the road,” said Head Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton. “Our defensive energy and ability to execute in critical moments made the difference tonight.”
