CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — The University of Virginia has been selected to host Championship Weekend for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships, marking the tournament’s return to Grounds for the first time in nearly 45 years.

The iconic event will take place at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville over Memorial Day Weekend, with the semifinals scheduled for May 23 and the national championship game set for May 25, 2026.

A new host site was required after several current venues, including Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, were designated as host stadiums for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Scott Stadium will welcome fans from four different men’s lacrosse programs next May, offering a rare opportunity to see the nation’s top teams compete for a national title in one of college athletics’ most celebrated championship weekends.
