CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia Men’s Lacrosse Team’s Season ended at 6-8 overall with a gut-wrenching loss to No. 9 Duke in Overtime. Duke Opened the game going 3-4 with shots on goal to take an early lead but the Hoos battled back to trail 7-5 at the half. In the second half Virginia held Duke scoreless for the majority of the third quarter and took an 8-7 lead late in the game, however in typical rivalry fashion Duke fired back with two goals and then Virginia responded to tie the game at 9. Both teams had their opportunities late, but regulation ended with the game tied at 9. In the overtime period, once again Virginia had multiple possessions with a chance to win the game but could not capitalize and Duke took advantage of an unsettled situation with under 1 minute remaining in the first overtime and finished the game ending UVA’s season. Virginia played one its best games of the season pushing No. 9 Duke to overtime, but the Hoos could not capitalize late and Duke eventually outlasted the Hoos in OT ending their season at 6-8.
