Nassau, Bahamas – (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – After waiting for almost an hour to play due to the double overtime game that preceded their match up with the Tennesse Volunteers, the Cavalier Men’s Basketball team never seemed able to find a rhythm offensively. Both teams struggled out of the gate but eventually Tennessee began to capitalize on Virginia’s 18 turnovers that they were able to convert into transition baskets and they used their size and athleticism to overwhelm the Hoos on the glass. It was also a rough shooting performance for the Hoos who shot 29 percent from the field. Tennessee led 22-21 at the half but used a 17-5 run to open the second half, however UVA responded with an 8-0 spurt but then Tennessee closed the door with a 22-3 run to put the game out of reach, ultimately winning 64-42. Virginia was led by Dai Dai Ames who was the only player in double figures with 12 pts and Andrew Rhode contributed 8 points. The Hoos will face No. 22 St. John’s coached by Rick Pitino Friday evening at 7.pm. and coverage on WINA begins at 6p.m.
