RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Starting this year, vehicles in Virginia will display redesigned safety inspection stickers with enhanced security measures. The updated green stickers now include a holographic state seal and a dogwood flower image, both designed to be hard to replicate. Two QR codes are also included—one directs users to the Virginia State Police Safety Division webpage, and the other is for administrative use. The stickers also display the expiration month on a white background and the year over the dogwood flower image. Future stickers will rotate colors, with blue planned for 2027, red for 2028, and yellow for 2029.

“We want Virginians to have confidence that when they see an inspection sticker on a vehicle that the vehicle has been truly inspected by a qualified professional,” said Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Hanley, Interim Superintendent of Virginia State Police.
