CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia men’s basketball guard Reece Beekman has signed a two-way deal with the Golden State Warriors, according to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Matt Newton. Beekman, a key player for the Cavaliers, will split his time between the NBA team and its G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Beekman concluded his senior season with averages of 14.3 points, 6.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. Over his career at UVA, he accumulated 228 steals and 636 assists, becoming the all-time leader in steals for the Cavaliers. Beekman also earned the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award twice and started 121 of 126 games throughout his four years at UVA.
This move follows Beekman’s notable performance on January 18, 2023, when he led Virginia to a victory over Virginia Tech with Stephen Curry and Ty Jerome watching courtside. Now, Beekman will aim to make his mark alongside Curry in the NBA.
He made the announcement in April that he would not play for his final year of eligibility at UVA.
