CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia Football team suffered one of its most difficult losses of the season to North Carolina falling 41-14 on Saturday.  The Hoos jumped out to an early lead but were plagued by turnovers and a lack of offensive production that ultimately cost them any opportunity to win the football game.  Virginia quarterbacks were sacked a record setting 10 times in the game and one of the interceptions was returned 84 yards for a touchdown by a Carolina defensive tackle.  The Hoos also struggled to tackle and gave up a number of big plays in the passing game, aside from trying to contain Omarion Hampton, one of the best running backs in the country.  By the end of the third quarter, UVA had been sacked 9 times and had only 5 yards rushing.  Despite having two starting offensive linemen out including their center as well as starting safety Antonio Clary and linebacker James Jackson, Coach Elliott refused to point to the injuries as a reason for losing the game.  He said they have a next man up mentality and that he should have had the next group of kids ready to play:

Virginia will also confront another question over the bye week, as quarterback Tony Muskett has entered the games late against Clemson and North Carolina and gone 14-20 for over 230 yards with three touchdowns.  Coach Elliott acknowledged they are open to looking at whether or not they will change starting quarterbacks saying: ” we’re going to evaluate everything, and we’ll be fair”.  The Hoos will be off this week before returning for a road contest against undefeated Pittsburgh on Saturday November 9th.
