CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Public ticket sales for the 37th annual Virginia Film Festival began today, October 11, at noon. The festival, one of Charlottesville’s most popular cultural events, will feature over 100 films when it opens at the end of the month. Led by University of Virginia Vice Provost for the Arts Jody Kielbasa, this year’s program includes an array of films, panels, and guest appearances.

Kielbasa highlighted key aspects of this year’s lineup, noting, “We have 10 films that will represent their respective countries in the Academy Awards.” Among the festival’s highlights is a documentary on singer Luther Vandross, part of the Black Excellence program. “All of your Luther Vandross fans, start getting your tickets on October 11th,” he advised.

Festival-goers can expect a community-driven experience with panel discussions, expert-led film introductions, and post-screening conversations.
