RICHMOND, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Eight Virginia Department of Corrections K9s—Anubis, Ben, Cash, Farron, Micky, Rio, Speedy, and Tango—will soon receive bullet- and stab-resistant vests, thanks to a donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vests, expected to arrive within ten weeks, are sponsored by the nonprofit and will be embroidered with “In memory of K9 Rivan, Virginia DOC, EOW 4-2-24.” Each vest is NIJ-certified, custom-fitted, and weighs approximately 4-5 pounds. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2009, provides protective vests and assistance to law enforcement dogs nationwide.
