CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – Fourth-seeded Virginia (41-15) had its four-game win streak snapped with a 12-7 loss to fifth-seeded Florida State (41-14) in a Pool D elimination game on Friday (May 24) at the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament. The Seminoles advance to the semifinals to play the winner of Wake Forest and North Carolina game scheduled for Friday evening.

UVA and Florida State combined for 12 runs in a fateful seventh inning. Unfortunately for Virginia it was Florida State who plated seven of them. The seven-run outburst put the Seminoles up 11-2 and was tied for the most runs in a single inning by a UVA opponent this season.

The Cavaliers hit four home runs in the contest matching the program’s single-game ACC Tournament record set in 2021. Three of the long balls came in a five-run seventh inning, the third time this season UVA has hit three home runs in a single inning. Griff O’Ferrall was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Casey Saucke homered for the fourth-straight game in a 1-for-4 effort at the plate.
