Staunton, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW):  There will be some important bridge work occurring next week after Labor Day on I-81 around Staunton.  From September 3rd through the 5th the new Route 635 overpass bridge will be painted.  The overpass is located between exit 220 and 221 on I-81, part of a long-term goal project to create a new auxiliary lane on I-81 South between the I-64 west junction and exit 220.  

Per VDOT protocol, the lane closures will be overnight.   From 8pm until 7am, I-81 north will have alternating lane closures on Tuesday night, the closures will switch to the southbound lanes on Wednesday night.  Thursday will be different, with a full closure of the left southbound lane between 10pm and 11pm, and controlled, slow traffic through the left lane from 11pm until 5am Friday.     

All work is weather permitting, and the schedule is subject to change
