RICHMOND (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management is urging state residents to participate in a tornado drill Tuesday morning. Tuesday is the “tornadoes” topic of the week conducted by VDEM and the National Weather Service. A VDEM release says every school, business, workplace, and family across the commonwealth is strongly encouraged to participate in the statewide tornado drill.

At 9:45AM, “the drill will be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio and the Emergency Alert System via the Required Monthly Test (RMT). There WILL NOT be an actual Tornado Warning issued and the notification WILL NOT be sent to cellular phones.”

You don’t have to, but VDEM urges you to register if you’re participating as they just want a head count. Click here to register.
