CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Edward Conlin Lee, 44, of Charlottesville, has been charged with malicious wounding following a stabbing near the University of Virginia.
Charlottesville Police responded to the 100 block of Emmet Street on February 27 and found a male victim with stab wounds to his torso. He was transported to UVA Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. Authorities determined that Lee and the victim had an altercation at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church on Thomson Road before the stabbing. The victim then walked to Emmet Street, where first responders located him. Police confirmed the attack was not random, as the two individuals knew each other.
Lee was last seen heading toward UVA Grounds while still armed with a knife, prompting a multi-agency response and public safety alerts. Within an hour, officers detained him in the 200 block of Stribling Avenue.
