Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): The Cavalier Women began 2025 in search of their first ACC victory of the season yesterday evening against the Wake Forest Demon Deacon.  Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton’s squad needed a bounce-back victory after getting hit hard against a Notre Dame unit consisting of the best guards the nation has to offer.  Their opponents were a Wake Forest team hovering around .500 yet to hit their stride in conference play.  The Hoos came out swinging and soon took control of the game from the offset, never letting go for four quarters.  Kymora Johnson, Latasha Lattimore, and Paris Clark all played more than 30 minutes of the game, with Johnson and Lattimore reaching 16 and 13 points respectively.  Breona Hurd chimed in with 15, going 3-4 from three-point range and missing just once from the floor.   The Cavaliers put up 44 points in the second half to pull away from their opponents and when the dust cleared, the score stood at 69-41 in favor of the home team.  Wake Forest had no answers for the Virginia zone defense and could not take advantage of Virginia’s turnovers, as they dropped to 7-6.  As for the Hoos, they have an opportunity to get both their tenth win and reach the .500 mark in conference play on the road at Clemson next Thursday at 7:00 PM.
