CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – University of Virginia administration announces it will release the external review report by mid-March regarding the November 13, 2022 shootings that resulted in the deaths of three athletes and injuries of two others. UVA chief spokesman Brian Coy says the University committed it would release the reports “upon completion of the criminal proceedings against Christopher Jones. Coy says now that Jones had pleaded guilty and sentencing delayed until late this year, Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Hingeley has “withdrawn his concern that releasing the reports prior to sentencing would influence the outcome of the remainder of the criminal proceedings”.

Coy says UVA has shared the reports with the families of D’Sean Perry, Lavel Davis, and Devin Chandler, as well as the families of Mike Hollins and Marlee Morgan. The University is now preparing to release the final redacted reports next month.
“Once victims and families of the deceased have had the opportunity to read the reports and meet with University officials, the University will then make the reports available to the general public. ”

Coy writes, “As an important note, to comply with federal student privacy regulations, the reports will contain necessary redactions to mark out private student information required by law, as well as sensitive public safety information.”
