Indianapolis, IN (cvillerightnow.com): Gretchen Walsh has won another national title! The dominant Virginia Swimming alumna has already earned one top-step finish in the 50m Butterfly at the Toyota National Championships in Indianapolis, and she took on the 100m fly in long-course action on the third day of competition yesterday evening. Walsh won the final in a remarkable 54.76, besting her former Olympic teammate and collegiate rival Torri Huske of Stanford by 1.85 seconds.
Wahoo swimmers made the podium six times yesterday, with Katie Grimes, Leah Hayes, Claire Curzan, and Emma Webber also finding their way into the top three for their respective events.
Incoming freshman Thomas Heilmann, who made headlines as a 17-year-old this past summer after making his way onto Team USA for the Paris games in the 100m butterfly, finished second in the final by just under 0.2 seconds, posting an excellent time of 50.70 behind Shaine Casas.
The qualifying finishers throughout this meet will be headed to the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore beginning July 27th.
