CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)

It’s fair to say that the road to Paris has passed through Charlottesville in 2024. Some of Todd Desorbo’s finest swimmers in collegiate competition have been selected for USA Swim in both men’s and women’s competition. The most recent name to join the roster from the Cavalier swimming team is Kate Douglass.

Douglass punched her ticket to Paris with an exceptional performance in the Women’s 100-meter freestyle, putting up a time of 52.56, smashing her UVA school record time. However, Kate was not finished after her victory. Douglass also took to the pool in the 200-meter breaststroke semifinals and won that race as well with a time of 2:19.66.

The finals of that event are taking place this evening at Lucas Oil Stadium, where Douglass will tangle with three other UVA swimmers, Ella Nelson, Anna King, and Alex Walsh, who finished third in the semifinals with a time of 2:22.81. Tonight’s events begin at 8pm EST on NBC and are streaming live on Peacock.
