Indianapolis, IN (CVILLERIGHTNOW): Last Saturday, competition concluded in the 2025 Toyota National Championships with eight UVA-affiliated swimmers qualifying to race in the 2025 World Championships next month in Singapore.   

The Women’s High Point Award went to 2024 Olympian and UVA alumna Kate Douglass, who earned a total of 88 over the five-day competition.  She earned two golds in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke, a silver in the 50m butterfly, a bronze in the 50m freestyle, and a fourth-place finish in the 100m freestyle.   

Gretchen Walsh was close behind with three golds in the 50 Free, 50 fly, and 100 Fly, along with a silver in the 100 Free. 

Alex Walsh won gold in the 200m Individual Medley. 

Claire Curzan, Katie Grimes, and Anna Moesch qualified on the womens’ side by virtue of their finishes in the top places of their events.    On the men’s side, 2024 Olympian and incoming UVA freshman Thomas Heilman, along with current Wahoo and backstroke specialist Jack Aikins (who set the fastest time in the world for 2025 in the 200m backstroke) each qualified for several events in the Singapore Meet. 

Action is set to begin at the 2025 World Championships on July 27th.
