CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Winding up the academic year, University of Virginia students have donated unused food service swipes to fellow students in need. UVA Food Pantry and UVA Dine co-hosted a “Swipe Drive” through late Thursday night where one swipe donated results in donation of a pound of food to the pantry. UVA Food Pantry Marketing Coordinator Daniel McCain told 29News that student next to you may not know where the next meal is coming from, and you don’t necessarily know it. Recent surveys show anywhere between 1-in-4 or 1-in-3 UVA students experience a period of food insecurity in a 30-day period. There are six pantries on Grounds…Newcomb Hall, the Women’s Center, the Education School, the Engineering School, the Nursing School, and at McIntire.
