Charlottesville, VA (virginiasports.com):Two big hits came at just the right time for Virginia Softball, as senior catcher Sarah Coon’s clutch hitting propelled her squad to a three-run victory over the #23 Kentucky Wildcats.  Coon climbed into the box in the second inning and clobbered a pitch off the right field wall and flew around second to land at third with a leadoff triple.  Reece Holbrook hit her home two batters later to tie the game at one.  One triple is good enough, but two leadoff triples on the day is much better, as another leadoff triple allowed her to give the Hoos the go-ahead scoring on a wild pitch two batters later.  Savanah Henley’s three strong relief innings held the Cats at 1, and the Hoos saw them off by 3 to start their Shriner’s Invitational Weekend with a win.
