Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): The Virginia Softball squad hammered the Longwood Lancers yesterday in their final game of the Mizuno Classic at Palmer Park in Charlottesville by a score of 10-0. Virginia’s offense was, in large part, powered by the long ball. The Cavaliers left the park four times in the ten-run rout. Half the homers came off the bat of Virginia shortstop Jade Hylton, both were two run shots, along with another hit for a perfect 3-3 day. MC Eaton and Kelsey Hackett also went deep, and Reece Holbrook added a triple to button up a stellar offensive day. Julia Cuozzo, in a strong four inning outing, struck out four and kept the Longwood offense off the board. After nothing from the visitors in the fifth, the run rule victory was complete. Up next, more invitational action at Palmer this weekend, beginning on Friday, the Hoos welcome Cornell, Hofstra and Seton Hall, for the Palmer Invitational.
