CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – In the middle of the first week of classes, UVA President Jim Ryan recorded a 4-minute opening message asking the university community to show each other grace, stay curious and seek out each other’s stories, and find joy whether in learning something or going to games or a play. In light of past challenges ranging from the killings of three two years ago, and the impacts of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this past year, he is sure he will make decisions that will disappoint some.

But he says he will always listen and try to make the best decision to benefit the university. Ryan said he believes UVA has some of the best faculty, staff, students, and alumni anywhere and his job is for all to their best work and thrive. Click here to view the video.
