Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Dr. Bobby Chhabra, Chair of UVA Orthopedics and a renowned sports injury prevention specialist, discussed the return of former UVA basketball star Kyle Guy to the UVA men’s basketball team as a special assistant. Reflecting on Guy’s pivotal moments, such as his clutch free throws during the 2019 NCAA Championship run, Dr. Chhabra noted that it was one of the most intense periods many people had experienced, watching Guy handle the pressure on the line.

Chhabra emphasized the impact Guy’s return could have on the team, noting his ability to connect with younger players and help improve their shooting skills. “He can bring a lot of expertise and connect with these younger kids…his passion for UVA will really inspire a lot of people.”

The conversation also touched on the resilience of the UVA basketball program, particularly after their historic loss to UMBC in 2018, and how Guy’s experience and passion could help instill mental toughness in the current roster.
