CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Officials at both Virginia and North Carolina are “communicating” about the forecast for Saturday and how it could impact the sold-out basketball game between the two at John Paul Jones Arena.

The 22nd-ranked Tar Heels are planning to bus from Chapel Hill, N.C. on Friday. Saturday’s game is set to tip off at 2 p.m.

Forecasts are calling for potentially heavy snowfall beginning Saturday afternoon into the evening, meaning the trip home for UNC could become treacherous.

“Every effort will be made to play if the teams, officials and essential game management personnel make it to the playing facility, in careful evaluation and consultation with public safety officials,” an ACC spokesperson told Cville Right Now. “Ultimately it a collaborative effort between the schools and conference office.”
