Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): Virginia Men’s Golf won its first ever ACC Championship yesterday when action concluded in Bowling Green, Kentucky, besting the North Carolina Tar Heels in Match Play 3-2.  Three winners for Virginia yesterday were Deven Patel, Paul Chang, and Bryan Lee.  Chang scored the first point of the contest over Sihan Sandu after a par on the 17th hole knocked his opponent out of the match.  Patel led the whole way against Keaton Vo, winning 1UP on the 18th hole.  Maxwell Ford, for UNC, led Virginia’s Bryan Lee for 14 holes in the final match.  However, typical of a championship match, Lee chipped in a birdie from feet off the green to stop Ford’s momentum and take control of the battle.   Lee powered through and won it all for the Hoos with a 2UP victory.  The Hoos’ first ever ACC title will likely set them up for an excellent seed in the NCAA tournament, selection is tomorrow at 1:00pm and will be broadcast on the Golf Channel.
