Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): On top of earning a new commitment from one of the top high school stars in state in Silas Barksdale, Virginia Head Basketball Coach Ryan Odom officially added three new assistant coaches to his staff for the upcoming 2025-26 season. All three assistants have pedigree with Odom from their time together as coaches of the VCU Rams.
Darius Theus made an appearance in the Final Four as a player and worked to bring the Siena Saints to a 17-15 record as an ACC. He also has experience as a player development director at VCU before moving to Siena.
Bryce Crawford and Matt Henry were both with Odom at Utah State before joining him at VCU. Crawford was instrumental in helping to craft the excellent guard play of a Utah State team that earned the program national acclaim. He was also with Odom when UMBC handed Virginia its infamous NCAA tournament defeat in 2018. Henry, was also at UMBC and Utah State, and adds yet more experience in developing the character of every team with which he coached.
With all three working with Odom at VCU, the Rams finished 52-21 over the past three seasons, including a 28-7 season in 2025 that saw them win the A-10 tournament before bowing out of the NCAA tournament.
