CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia says it’s working to identify the source of a two-sided billboard truck calling for the resignation of Board of Visitors’ Rector Robert Hardie, deeming to the Cavalier Daily the message is “false and offensive”. Hardie is under fire for telling Visitor Bert Ellis he would be reprimanded for discussing what’s being done to combat antisemitism in open session. Hardie said the various stories they’re hearing on Grounds is a student safety issue which must be covered only in closed session.

UVA first-year student Matan Goldstein has been sharing on The Schilling Show what he calls many antisemitic experiences on Grounds that started at Orientation with an Egyptian student, but has intensified since October 7. He claims he was at lunch by himself one day when a student walked up to him and called him a “filthy Jews”. Golstein contends he and his family have determined for his own personal safety that he should no longer wear his yarmulke around Grounds.

The University’s Bethanie Glover tells Cav Daily the Board and Administration are committed to combatting antisemitism and discrimination.
