Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UVA Health is enhancing patient accessibility with its new virtual care appointments, providing a convenient alternative for those seeking medical attention. Ben Dolewski, Ambulatory Director for Primary Care and Psychiatry at UVA Health joined WINA Morning News to discuss the benefits of this service.

Dolewski explained, “Virtual care means a video and audio visit that you can do from anywhere with a camera and speakers. You don’t need to be an established patient; anyone in Virginia can access it.”

Appointments are available within 15 minutes during operating hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can be seen in the comfort of your own home for minor injuries or illnesses like a sore throat or sinus infection. For those who require more than a virtual visit, Dolewski assured, “We have a clinic for same-day visits if further physical exams or lab tests are needed.”

To schedule a virtual care appointment, search for UVA virtual care online. You can start your visit right from the UVA virtual care website.

Dolewski emphasized the service’s role in increasing healthcare access, stating, “We can see anyone in the Commonwealth of Virginia, making it a great tool for those in rural areas or traveling.”
