CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UVA’s children’s hospital has been ranked as the top children’s hospital in the Commonwealth for the fifth straight year by U.S. News & World Report.
UVA Health Children’s, which provides primary and specialty care in more than 30 specialties at the University Medical Center, had nine children’s specialties that ranked in the Top 50 nationally.

UVA Health Children ranked No. 21 for pediatric nephrology (kidney care), No. 28 in neonatology (critical care for infants), No. 28 for pediatric pulmonology and lung surgery, No. 30 for pediatric gastroenterology and GI surgery (digestive health), No. 34 for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, No. 39 for pediatric urology, No. 42 in pediatric orthopedics, No. 49 for diabetes and endocrinology, and No. 50 in pediatric and adolescent behavioral health.

U.S. News & World Report’s rankings criteria include patient outcomes, patient safety, and access to specialized clinics and programs, along with a national survey of pediatric specialists, according to UVA Health’s release.
