CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/THE DAILY PROGRESS) – A UVA Health board member has resigned over last week’s resignation of UVA Health CEO and Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, Dr. Craig Kent. Thomas Scully, a UVA undergrad and partner in technology and healthcare industry private equity WCAS, sent a letter to UVA brass and The Daily Progress said he’s stepping away from the board due to “toxic forces” leading to Kent’s resignation. The Daily Progress reports while Scully has no information on the outside investigation of the situation, he accuses the Board of Visitors of “silly partisan politics” and blames much of what transpired on doctors more interested in paychecks than patients.
