Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – With the football season approaching, University of Virginia head coach Tony Elliott shared his thoughts on the team’s development and preparations for the year ahead. Entering his third season, Elliott expressed optimism about the progress made in establishing a strong team culture, saying, “I feel really good about where we’re at. I feel like this is the first true offseason because there was nothing else kind of over our head.”
Elliott also highlighted the importance of the new Hardy Football Facility, emphasizing how it reflects the program’s commitment to excellence. “It has everything that we need to build a team… one of the intangible things is it provides a space for the guys to be together.” Elliot describes Football as the ultimate team sport, so having impressive facilities is important for attracting attention. More importantly, the new facility offers future Cavaliers a space where they can truly develop both individually and as a team. This state-of-the-art center not only enhances training but also cultivates unity, which Elliott sees as essential to the team’s success.
When asked about the patience required in building a winning culture, Elliott drew on his past experiences at Clemson, stating, “It’s about the journey… you couldn’t skip steps; you have to invest.” He remains confident that the program is on the right path, even as they face the challenges of a competitive season ahead.
