Money Magazine has given the University of Virginia a 4.5-star rating in its “Best Colleges of 2024” assessment.

The publication considered several metrics, including graduation rates, the cost of tuition, financial aid and alumni salaries in assigning a possible two to five stars to the school.

Money started with a list of all the nation’s four-year private and public schools, numbering more than 2,400 institutions.

That number of schools was slashed to 745 after considering things like class size and schools having a graduation rate “at or above the median for its institutional category” – public, private or historically black institutions.

UVA’s graduation rate of 94%, when factoring in both the six-year and four-year rates, is the highest among public universities in the country.
